Sarasota has so many attractions! The Ringling museum is definitely worth a visit for fine art lovers – while you are there be sure to visit the Circus museum celebrating circus history. Another great stop is Marie Selby botanical gardens – a living museum and children’s rain forest garden on Sarasota Bay, focused on the research and conservation of epiphytes, especially orchids and bromeliads. If history is your thing, be sure to stop by for a tour of the Ca d’Zan mansion – John and Mable Ringling’s grand home on Sarasota Bay. Want to learn more about our amazingly diverse sea life? Drop by Mote Marine Laboratory to see rescued sea turtles, Manatee and so much more.
If you are looking for an old-time Florida attraction, be sure to visit Sarasota Jungle Gardens – an area attraction since 1936. There are 10 acres of botanical plantings along with a variety of bird and animal shows. Sarasota is also home to Myakka River State Park – a great place to see alligators, rare birds, deer and more wildlife than we have time to go into here. Featuring a canopy walk, Myakka is a wonderful place for a day of hiking in a beautiful setting.
Area attractions span pretty much anything you could want. Besides Siesta Key Beach – the #1 beach in the USA, there is so much to do nearby and even more within a two hour drive. In nearby Tampa, a one hour drive will take you to Busch Gardens theme park. Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, The Magic Kingdom, Discovery Cove, and so much more are located in Orlando, just a two hour drive away.
